A desktop setup flow for giving an assistant constrained access to local files.
The question
Useful local file access needs an understandable setup and a deliberate access boundary. The presence of a configured server is not the same as permission to use it.
The approach
A Python MCP server and GUI installer expose local-file capabilities through a visible configuration workflow.
Where it stands
The original server is publicly available with installation and source material on GitHub.
The current boundary
Host configuration, actual connection state, and user authorization still determine what a client can use.
